My First 5k

On May 9, 2009, I ran my very first 5k, the Butte Challenge.
My time was 33:05.
Not as fast as I would like to be running, but slow and steady! :)
I was thrilled when I was finished, and can't wait to do it again.
I have a few more 5k races lined up, this Spring, and eventually I would love to run a 10K.
We will see. No rush though, I am thrilled to be running a 5k!

Week 14

OK, so I guess I skipped a week.
I am pretty excited about the progress I have made in the past 4 months.
I am doing it. I am actually doing it.
My only regret is not taking any before pictures. I think it would be amazing to be able to look back, and see the progress that I have made.

I am now able to run 2.5 miles. It still isn't real easy for me, and I do know that that isn't really very far, but I am just working my way up slowly. I am not runing very fast. Pretty slow, actually, but I think once I get to where I can run as far as I want to be able to, then I will work on getting faster. Right now, I am just going for endurance.

So, as of yesterday, I am down 39 pounds, even.
To me, that is amazing. And, I feel so great.
I am loving the way I am starting to look, but way more, I am loving how I feel.
The food that I am eating, is wonderful. I even ate Pot Roast last night!
I just used a small plate, and only ate until I wasn't hungry anymore.
What a concept, huh?

So, I am pretty close to my goal weight, but still have quite a ways to go, to be the size I would like to be, so I am starting to put more thoughts on toning.

May 9th, I am running in the Butte Challenge 5K, with a couple of friends. I am scared to death. And, really, really hope that I can make it that far by then, and that I won't slow them down.
We will see how that goes. 2 more weeks though, so I gotta be pushing it hard in the next few runs.

Week 12

This week was a bit of a rough one.
I learned that I am an emotional eater.

This was the first week that I gave gained weight, this whole first 12 weeks.

I am up .4.

That's OK. It's not as bad as I had feared, and I am back in check, and ready for a loss, during week 13!

Only a few more pounds to go, and then I will just maintain, and tone!

Week 11

4.4 pounds gone this week.
34 pounds total.

Working on week 5 of Couch to 5K.

I have still been running and have actually starting enjoying the personal challenge! i AM FAR FROM BEING A "REAL RUNNER", but I am excited to be getting closer!

It's still going pretty good.

I am to the point that I like the way I feel, more than I miss eating unhealthy foods.
I am also fining myself wishing it was a running day. Which is crazy. It isn't because I love the actual running, it is just because I am excited to be able to push just a little further, and see that I CAN actually do it.
When I started, it seriously took all I could do to run for a minute at a time, for more than two or three times, but now, I am up to 8 minutes at a time, and getting ready to shoot for 20.

Week 10

2.2 down this week, making 29.6 total.
The insane part is that I am with in 10-15 pounds of where I want to stay.
I was hoping that I could make it there, by the time school gets out, in June, but here I am, not even April quite yet and I am almost there.

Week 9

This was a WONDERFUL week!
My favorite week so far!

* The sun was shining, bright and warm!

* I actually felt the treadmill get easier!

* I committed to running a half marathon as a relay!

* Softball has started, which means lots of fresh air and time outside!

* I lost 4.4 pounds!

* My total weight loss over the past 9 weeks, is 27.4 pounds!

Week 8

-1.0.
Darn, I wish there wasn't a . in there. :)

So, I am down 23 pounds total.

Next week WILL BE A BETTER LOSS! Mark my words!

WEEK 7

1.6 this week, and 22.0 total in 7 weeks.

I am a little bummed at such a small number this week, but honestly, this was my first week of not really earning it. I was a little "off" this week. Lot's going on, and eating on the run.
It's O.K. though, a small loss is better than no loss at all! I will take it!

So, time to re-focus once again, and track closer this week. Looking for a bigger number by next Friday!

Week 5

I almost fell over when I stepped on the scale at my weigh in, this am.
I was telling John that I wasn't feeling like I was going down, and that I was feeling frustrated.
I really wasn't feeling it today, and to be perfectly honest, I was thinking I was going to go and eat some good hot, spicy, cheesy Mexican food after my weigh in today.

BUT... I went, and was down 3.4 pounds!
SERIOUSLY!
So, now I am up to 18.6.

And, honestly, that is like halfway to my ultimate goal.

And, suddenly...
I don't need nasty, greasy, slimy Mexican Food.
And, I opted for grilled chicken and fruit.
And, I LOVED it!

So, how's that for progress?

Pretty awesome, I must say!

Now, I am off to watch some Varsity Girls Basketball, against the Bucks, and praying for a WIN!
GO DAWGS!!!

Week 4

-2.8 pounds
= 14.8 total.

I haven't found time to walk/run as much as I would like to,
but a little is definitly better than none at all.

Still keeping my chin up, and staying focused!

Week 3

-1.8this week.
12 pounds total in 3 weeks.
That is insane. I am loving it, but I do realize that in reality, it doesn't really work like that for more than a week or two. I am hoping for 1.5 to 2.0 pounds a week. I want to lose about 25 more pounds, and HOPING that I can do it by the time school gets out. That gives me 4 months to lose 25 pounds! I am thinking that is pretty do-able!
Monday, I am going to start going back to the gym with one of my oldest B-F-F's!
She is having some really, really hard times right now, and I can't wait to spend some time hanging out with her, and doing something GREAT for both of us!
John bought me a Wii fit today! I am so excited. Between that and my treadmill, I really don't need to go to the gym, but it will be fun to have a friend to challenge eachother!
So, here's to another GREAT, HEALTHY week! And, a few more pounds off by body, as well!

Week 2

Weighed in this am... -3.2 for a total of 10.2!
Yippeee!
Didn't do as well as I would have liked to this week with the treadmill,
just for a simple lack of time.
Hoping to make up for it this week though.
Looking forward to another great, productive and healthy next 7 days!

Week One

drum roll, please...

7 pounds.

I have stuck with my treadmill schedule. Taking it extra slow this time. Trying hard not to hurt my knee any worse than it is already messed it. Nothing too serious, but sticking to it, none the less.
So, I have made it to the treadmill 4 days this week, counted points for 7 days, and stayed right on track!!!

Very excited about my progress!

Fitness Friday's

I went to a Weight Watchers meeting today.
I haven't been good about Weight Watchers, at all for the past year or so. Since I met me goal, for our Disneyland trip. I pretty much dropped the whole thing at that point.
I wanted to get to the 30 pound lost goal, before we left for Disneyland, and I did. And, I told myself when I set that goal, that if I could get to 30 pounds lost, I wouldnt worry about counting points, while we were gone to Disneyland, or for the rest of the month that Anouk was here. So, I was so excited when I met that goal. We went to California, and I was so excited to fit into the clothes I was fitting into, as well as how I felt when I looked in the mirror.

And then we came back.
And then Anouk left.
And then I spent the next year and a half, celebrating that 30 pound mark, until today, when I weighed in, and realized that I had finally gained back almost every bit of the weight that I worked SO hard to get rid of.

This was my first week getting back on my treadmill, and my first week of officially starting Weight Watchers, and counting points again.

I have Fridays off, which is great because there are Weight Watchers meetings, which get over just in time to pick Ashlyn up from school, so I plan to make Friday's my Fitness Fridays. The day that I use the treadmill, count points and weigh in, at the end of the week, to see how I have done, and what I need to do in the following week to keep it going.

I plan to post my progress here, every Friday, as well.

Third time's a charm, right?

Revamp

So, I guess I am starting over for the 5millionth time.

So, 30 and running in 2008... It happened. Just not to the extent that I was hoping for.
So, my original plan for this blog was to document my journey from Couch to 5K. And, that's where the part that didn't happen comes in to play.

So, here's what happened. It got hard.
I got frustrated. I got discouraged. I gave up.

It was just about this time last year that I first started this journey.

I got back on my treadmill tonight. I made a new, "safer" plan, for 2009.

Here's the deal.

I plan to-
Follow the Couch to 5K plan, but adapt it, a little bit. So, if a week is hard, or if I don't feel ready to move up to the next step, I will just stay in the current week, until it feels easier and more comfortable for me.
I plan to get on my treadmill AT LEAST 3 times every week, even if it is just to walk.

So, there you have it. Again.
I know you're probably rolling your eyes and saying "yeah, right!" I know. And, I feel the same way. But, here I go again. Better to start and do a little bit, than nothing at all.

Today I walked/ran for-
27 minutes. 1.75 miles. 201.5 calories.
